Posture Correction in Gresham Park
Are you suffering from postural issues and spinal deformities? If you thought surgery was your only option, think again.
One of the most important indicators of vitality and health is posture. Upright posture has been connected to longevity and stamina for centuries, and today’s modern world is no exception. Research shows that individuals who retain optimal posture as they age tend toward longer lifespans.
In the face of countless technological devices and developments that pose a threat to our body’s natural ability to hold itself upright, chiropractic care remains a powerful intervention for restoring ideal posture.
Posture can be compromised by any of the following occurrences:
Scoliosis
Scoliosis is an S-Shaped curvature in the spine that causes the entire body’s structure to become unbalanced. Approximately 3 out of every 100 people have scoliosis.
Scoliosis can worsen by several degrees each year if it isn’t corrected. Physical activity and lifestyle factors can exacerbate the misalignment, or create persistent lower, middle, or upper back pain.
At Integrity Spine and Wellness, we use a technique called Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP) to address scoliosis and other misalignments in the spine. CBP is an advanced form of chiropractic care that gradually shifts bones and joints back into optimal alignment, similar to the way that braces move teeth over time.
Alleviating scoliosis can reduce pain, improve flexibility and mobility, visually realign the body, and improve health globally across the body.
Tech Neck
Commonly referred to as “tech neck,” forward head posture occurs when the head moves forward, out of alignment with the neck and shoulders.
When this occurs, significant pressure is put on the neck, which can cause pain, strain, and worsening of the condition.
Common causes of “tech neck” are frequent computer use (particularly laptops that require the user to look forward or down), cell-phone use, and prolonged television viewing in a poor position.
At Integrity Spine and Wellness, we use a variety of treatments to correct tech neck, including CBP (Chiropractic BioPhysics®), hands-on adjustments, and at-home exercises and tools.
Accident
If you’ve been in an accident, or gotten injured as a result of a fall, chances are your spine has been injured.
Accidents or injuries often create postural imbalances. The impact involved in an accident can force the bones and joints out of alignment, which can create pain and discomfort, as well as cause other parts of the body to compensate (like the muscles, ligaments, and joints).
Depending on the type of injury you’ve experienced, we create a customized treatment plan to help rehabilitate your body following any kind of trauma.
Poor Sleeping Habits
Poor sleeping posture at night can contribute to poor posture during the day.
At Integrity Spine and Wellness, we conduct a thorough initial assessment, which may include questions about your sleeping posture, depending on the presentation of your posture and spinal alignment.
Ergonomics
Lack of ergonomic support in the workplace (or at home) is a common cause of poor posture.
Ergonomics refers to the positioning of tools in a workspace for the highest possible amount of efficiency, which is best accomplished when the body is fully supported.
When ergonomics in a workplace is good—for example, in an office environment—the desk is level with the height of your elbows, your arms are able to bend comfortably to use a repetitive-motion friendly keyboard, your computer is placed at least arm’s length away from your face, and is positioned with the center of the screen at eye-level.
Spaces that have not been adjusted for ergonomic support can force the body into awkward positions over prolonged periods of time, wearing on the bones and joints, the muscles, and the other systems of the body.
Chiropractic care can help to restore the body’s mobility and function, and your chiropractic expert can help provide some tips on ideal ergonomic posture in whatever spaces you spend the most time in.
Weak Muscle Tone
Without a strong core and strong muscle support, posture may suffer.
Another cause of poor posture can be related to weak muscle tone. When the muscles of the body are not strengthened or used regularly, they can tighten in different locations across the body, causing the shoulders to slump and the neck to become poorly supported, making upright posture difficult to sustain.

Proper Spinal Alignment
Spinal Alignment
Correct posture is at the core of the Chiropractic BioPhysics method of treatment. The curves in your spine act as levers, shock absorbers, and resistance to gravity; they also protect and reduce forces acting on the spinal cord and nerve tissues. But, gravity, age, poor posture, improper physical activity, injury, and disease can all play a role in the misalignment of your spinal curves and, as a result, your entire body.
CBP Can Help Restore That Balance.
Following a scientific analysis of your posture and the curvature of your spine, a treatment plan is developed, based on your deficits, to restore proper alignment, relieve pain, and improve function.
Your treatment plan may include a variety of tested and proven CBP techniques, including adjustment, exercise, and traction or what is termed ‘Spinal Remodeling’.
