Back pain
Back pain is one of the most common reasons that people seek out chiropractic care.
Back pain can be completely debilitating or just a nagging, uncomfortable feeling. Back pain occurs as either chronic pain (which has existed for six months or more) or acute pain (appearing suddenly after a specific movement, action, or injury).
Chronic back pain can be recognized by its persistence, seeming to occur even without specific movements or actions. Chronic pain is one of the most common forms of back pain and affects over 65 million Americans.
Acute back pain is usually traceable to a certain event or movement in the body, which triggers immediate and sudden discomfort. Acute back pain is often the result of back injuries, which comprise approximately 20% if all workplace injuries.
Back pain occurs in three parts of the back: lower, middle, and upper. Sometimes, it occurs in multiple areas simultaneously.
Neck Pain
There are many causes of neck pain, with one of the most common being postural concerns.
Regular cell phone and technology use contributes to the extremely common phenomenon of “forward head posture” (also known as “tech neck”). Poor posture in the neck can also be caused by poor ergonomics in the workplace or at home, improper sleeping positions, or lack of muscle development in the parts of the neck and shoulders that help to support correct alignment.
Some people experience neck pain as a result of injury or disease-related degeneration (for example, due to arthritis, slipped discs, or repetitive movements).
Neck pain can manifest as a tingling sensation, sharp pain, aching, burning, numbness, or stabbing pain. It can be persistent no matter what position the neck is in, or it can be the product of specific positions. Chiropractic care is very effective in treating neck symptoms, as most problems in the neck are related to the neuromusculoskeletal system, which chiropractic care focuses on specifically.
Headaches
Recurring headaches are an extremely common phenomenon in the US, affecting more than 45 million Americans each year.
Unfortunately, most people believe that they have to live with headaches—but this isn’t the case!
Headaches are frequently resolved with regular chiropractic care. This is because chiropractic care tends to not just treat the joints and muscles of the body, but to the nervous system as well. Chiropractic care helps to improve the flow of nerve energy, which can often cause headaches when it is obstructed. Additionally, chiropractic care can help to resolve pinched nerves, misalignment in the neck, and shoulder tension—all of which can contribute to headaches.
Migraines
Migraines are characterized by their serious and painful effects—oftentimes, a migraine can be completely debilitating for up to 36 hours.
Migraines are typically symptomized by headaches, mood changes, vision loss, confusion and weakness, neck discomfort, digestive distress, and most well-known, pain on one or both sides of the face.
When it comes to treating headaches and migraines, chiropractic care helps to reduce tension and strain. Chiropractic care boosts the function of the nervous system, and helps to detoxify stagnant lymphatic fluid and toxins. Frequent chiropractic care has helped thousands of people reduce or eliminate their migraines altogether.
Joint Pain
Any area of the body where joints are present can manifest pain—this includes the arms and legs, fingers and toes, elbows and knees, and the entire spine.
When a joint is in distress, it can often exhibit pain or pain-like symptoms, including a feeling of grating, stiffness, burning, aching, or locking.
Joint point is very frequently the result of wear and tear or over-use. Joint pain can also be caused by degeneration resulting from arthritis or other disorders and diseases.
Regardless of the cause, chiropractic care can help to provide relief for distressed joints using a variety of different modalities. At Integrity Spine & Wellness, we utilize a diverse range of treatments to help decrease inflammation and support joint health and recovery.
Sciatica
Commonly felt as a shooting pain manifesting near the posterior and down the back of the legs, sciatica is a disorder of the sciatic nerve, which runs across the lower back half of the body.
Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve is inflamed. The sciatic nerve becomes inflamed with misaligned bones and joints press against it, and the misalignment often occurs after strenuous physical activity.
Classic sciatica can be effectively treated by chiropractic care, which helps to realign the spine in the low back—when misaligned, this is the most common culprit of sciatic pain.
Poor Posture
Poor posture can occur for a number of reasons: it can be genetic or congenital, the result of poor ergonomics in the workplace, at school, or at home, related to weakness of the muscles, or caused by an accident or injury which forced the body out of alignment.
Chiropractic care is the number one most effective form of treatment for poor posture. Without invasive surgery or implantations into the spine, Integrity Spine & Wellness utilizes Chiropractic BioPhysics® to make long-term changes to the spinal structure.
Whether you are experiencing scoliosis, forward-head posture, slumped shoulders, or misaligned hips and pelvis, chiropractic care can help. As the posture is gradually corrected back to optimal alignment, your expert chiropractor may also prescribe a series of exercises and movements to help support your treatment at home.
Fatigue
Fatigue is often thought of as sort of a “mysterious” ailment to practitioners of traditional medicine: without any biological markers, it’s difficult for doctors to diagnose the underlying cause and treat it effectively.
Fortunately, chiropractic care has a long history of successfully treating fatigue. Chiropractic care, which works on the neuromusculoskeletal system, targets the nervous system during treatment. By correcting the alignment of the skeletal structure, pressure and compression on nerves is released. This allows nerve energy to flow freely throughout the body, often invigorating not just the limbs and torso, but cognitive function and mentally clarity, as well.
Additionally, chiropractic care helps to boost immune function, helping to combat any foreign invaders that could be compromising the body’s energy levels.
Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a condition that originates in birth or early childhood, often caused by trauma to the skeletal system which forces a misalignment of one or more degrees.
Over time, this small shift in alignment (which manifests as a visible S-shaped curve of the spine) worsens. In severe cases, individuals with scoliosis may be visibly imbalanced and experience significant back pain.
In mild cases, scoliosis can be more difficult to identify visually, but can still cause pain to the individual and is evident on an x-ray.
At Integrity Spine & Wellness, we use Chiropractic BioPhysics® to treat scoliosis. Chiropractic BioPhysics® is a form of chiropractic care that produces transformational results in the shape of the spine by using scientific principles based on physics. Similarly to the way braces move teeth, Chiropractic BioPhysics® treatments effectively move bones through regular, non-invasive treatments which require no surgery and feel like a deep stretch.
Injuries & Accidents
Injuries and accidents can initially seem mostly harmless, but can leave lasting damage that the body struggles to recover from.
In severe cases, injuries can be extremely damaging to the body, requiring extra support for true rehabilitation.
At Integrity Spine & Wellness, we address all forms of injury and accident. Whether you’re suffering from the residual effects of an injury or have just experienced a traumatic event and want to support your body’s recovery, we’re here to help.
