FAQ

Do you have questions? We hope to be able to address most your concerns below.

Chiropractic care is the care of the nervous system, the muscular system, and the skeletal system. Chiropractors treat the neuromusculoskeletal system to reduce pain, correct posture, and support nerve health.

Chiropractic care is non-invasive and often achieves complete healing without the use of surgery. Chiropractic care works by creating a healthy environment and optimal conditions in the body, which allow it to heal itself.

No, a referral is not required to visit a chiropractor. Chiropractors are considered “primary contact physicians,” which means that you can book your appointment directly, no health insurance required.
This varies from person to person.

Depending on the reason for your visit, you may seek out chiropractic care for just a few sessions, or commit to receiving chiropractic regularly. Depending on lifestyle factors, previous injuries, and other individual circumstances, you and your chiropractor are best equipped to determine how frequently you need chiropractic care together, following your first visit.

Yes!

Children can absolutely benefit from chiropractic care, even when they’re in great health. For children who have experienced an injury, are displaying misaligned posture, or simply need wellness support, chiropractic care is especially beneficial and can prevent further damage from occurring in later stages of life.

At Integrity Spine & Wellness, we specialize in pediatric care and have seen transformational results treating children of all ages.

Chiropractors receive 7 – 8 years of education, including their undergraduate degree. Their curriculum is rigorous, emphasizing the study of the neuromusculoskeletal system. Chiropractic study specializes in anatomy, neurology, biomechanics, nutrition, x-ray, physiology, diagnosis, and spinal adjusting.

A chiropractor becomes licensed only after passing comprehensive national and state board tests.

While exercise and massage are extremely valuable wellness treatments, chiropractic care provides a different set of benefits from both of those interventions.

Chiropractic care helps to reduce inflammation of the nerves, realign the posture, and improve performance, body strength, and physical agility and flexibility. Chiropractic works on the neuromusculoskeletal system, improving function of all organs and boosting the body’s natural function and healing ability.

Chiropractic care is a complementary treatment to exercise and massage, and helps to make both practices more effective, but neither exercise nor massage produces the same results as chiropractic care.

No!

You’ve heard that cracking or popping your own joints is an “adjustment” similar to the one provided by an expert chiropractor, but it’s truly not the same.

A chiropractic adjustment involves the popping and cracking of joints, but that is NOT the main feature of an adjustment—what makes a professional adjustment different from at-home back and neck cracking is the carefully applied position, physics, thrust, and angle of the movement, which chiropractors spend years learning in school.

The sound that you hear when you crack or pop your own joints may be similar to what you hear in an expert adjustment, but the missing component is the tailored choreography of the movement. Yes, you may be moving joints, but it’s often in the wrong direction!

Even chiropractors can’t adjust themselves for this very reason—instead, they seek out other chiropractors who know how to strategically move their bones and joints back into proper alignment—not just move them aimlessly for temporary relief!

Sometimes, you can’t.

Many people go about their daily lives with misalignment of the bones and joints without realizing that they need an adjustment. This causes many people to not seek out chiropractic treatment until they feel pain and discomfort, or until they experience an injury or poor posture.

For this reason, regular chiropractic checkups are advisable. Just like with dental care, it’s always possible to visit after something has gone wrong (like a cavity!), but preventative care is always preferable!

It depends on your perspective!

Chiropractic care is one of the most research-backed and effective forms of preventative care available. While chiropractic care can treat serious conditions effectively, it is an especially powerful form of preventative and maintenance care, even when nothing is “wrong.”

Research shows that people who receive chiropractic care on a regular basis spend far less money on all healthcare expenses. So, in determining if chiropractic care is expensive, this must be taken into consideration—especially when regular care may prevent future surgeries, injuries, recovery time, and decreased quality of life.

Chiropractic BioPhysics® is a highly advanced form of chiropractic science that focuses on producing quantifiable, long-term results when moving the bones and joints back into proper alignment.

Rather than correct the problem superficially, Chiropractic BioPhysics® is designed to produce changes in the spinal structure that can be recorded in x-rays and postural assessments. Over the duration of the treatment plan (which may be different for each individual, depending on their needs), the posture is gradually corrected using physics-based principles that ensure that the root of the misalignment is treated.

Chiropractic BioPhysics® often leads to long-term postural improvements and a reduction or complete elimination of pain. Additionally, most patients notice other conditions clearing up as well, for example headaches, lethargy, and immune dysfunction.
